Quarter-life Crisis

They call it the "Quarter-life Crisis."

It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are many things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like. You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now. You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren't exactly the greatest people you have ever met, and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones.

What you don't recognize is that they are realizing that too, and aren't really cold, catty, mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you. You look at your job... and it is not even close to what you thought you would be doing, or maybe you are looking for a job and realizing that you are going to have to start at the bottom and that scares you. Your opinions have gotten stronger.

You see what others are doing and find yourself judging more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life and are constantly adding things to your list of what is acceptable and what isn't. One minute, you are insecure and then the next secure. You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly, change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life, but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away, and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward.

You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you. Or you lie in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyone decent enough that you want to get to know better. Or maybe you love someone but love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are doing this because you know that you aren't a bad person. Getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic.

You go through the same emotions and questions over and over, and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision. You worry about loans, money, the future and making a life for yourself... and while winning the race would be great, right now you'd just like to be a contender! What you may not realize is that everyone reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out. We aren't alone in their state of confusion...

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US!

Weird wednesday

Hmm... actually, today Ara and I were gonna go to Glodok to buy some DVDs. We ran out of DVDs to watch! But we decided to just buy 'em next week. Then I had lunch with my mom & dad in a Japanese Restaurant. Yummmm (^,^) ... I ate sushi, sashimi, agedashi tofu and some bites of Unagi :P Geez, I always love Japanese food! But then, I got texted by Calik, "Ruli's father passed away this morning. Please forward this message to the others." ... I was like, WHATTTT!?? ... Oh geez! May God bless his soul.

So, I went to Ruli's house after lunch. I met some of my friends from high school and I haven't met some of them since we finished high school. It's like a small reunion actually. Isn't that ironic? Having reunion on someone's funeral? I felt sorry for Ruli and his family. It must've been a great shock for them, losing a husband and a father.

Then I went to Pondok Indah Mall, coz I didn't feel like going home yet. I bought some books there... hehehe... I haven't finished reading "The Devil Wears Prada", but I just can't help it! I bought "Wanderlust" by Chris Dyer, "Cintapuccino" --- Indonesian chicklit, and FINALLY... "Shanghai Baby" by Wei Hui! I've been searching this book for months... other bookstores always ran out of this book. Finally, today, my mission completed! :) In 3 days, I've finished reading 3 books: "Kembang Jepun" by Remy Sylado, "Love in Prague" --- Indonesian teenlit, and "Natsuka" --- also Indo teenlit. Well, what can I say? I love reading! I hope those books I just bought are good. And I hope "Shanghai Baby" is as good as "Memoirs of A Geisha". "Memoirs Of A Geisha" is one of my fave books.

I heard that someone's gonna make the movie. Zhang Zi Yi would be Sayuri (if I'm not mistaken), Michelle Yeoh and Ken Watanabe are also taking part in that movie. I can't hardly wait!!! Well, anyways, "Kembang Jepun" is similar to "Memoirs of A Geisha", but too bad, non-bahasa indonesia-speaker can't read this book. Coz it's in Bahasa Indonesia.

One more thing, last monday, I went to cinema with my friends. We watched "It's All About Love". HOLY CRAP!!! That was the WEIRDEST MOVIE I've ever watched! Save your time, save your money, don't watch this movie. Weirdest movie ever!!! Really. I mean it. Don't. Aaite now... I suddenly forgot what I want to talk about. It's getting late. I guess, that's it for today. I'm signing-out! ;)

About Last Weekend

The bowling plan was off! I went to Bandung (3 hours driving from Jakarta) with my mom & dad instead. My brother got too busy with his assignments, so he skipped the trip. We went there coz my granny has gotten sick, again. Geez, I really hope she could make it until this Christmas. Her condition's getting weaker by the day, she's starting to lose her ability in speaking Bahasa Indonesia. She's speaking in Dutch most of the time (She's not a native speaker of Bahasa Indonesia), all the family can only pray and try to visit her that often! Get well soon, Oma...! I always love family gathering, coz I got to meet up my big family... my aunties, my uncles and of course my fun-loving cousins!!! We went shopping, dining and sight-seeing around Bandung. It was nice :) I took several photos when I was on the way to Bandung. The puncak area is really beautiful... the tea gardens, rice fields, the trees... I wish Jakarta had that kind of view.

And because of that family gathering, I found out from Lami that Lala and Delano are now really into "Ghosthunting" stuff. SAY WHAT?!!! That is something I won't do in a million years, EVER!!! Lami said that those 2 crazy cousins of mine often go to the old Dutch caves & old Japanese caves (only 15-20 minutes from Bandung)... and they experienced some creepy stuff!!! I got goosebumps everytime I listened to their stories. (If you want to know the stories, just e-mail me & I'll tell you!) And the worst part is, you'll never know when they're planning to go "visiting" those caves again. If you stuck in the car with them in Bandung, just pray and keep silent. The more you show them you're scared to death, the more they'll take you to those caves. That's what Lami told me, because she got trapped with them few weeks ago & she's not planning to experience that again. As to me, the better prevention is, not to go out with them during my stay in Bandung. Call me loser, but I'm really paranoid with those supertitious things. After watching horror movies, I don't have the guts to sleep alone in my room. Embarrasing, but I think everyone already knows that. Hahaha...

When I got back from Bandung last night, I received a very nice gift from my favorite couple, Radit and Tatiana :) [Thank youuuuuuu... *mwah mwah* I love you both!], they gave me a delicious fruit pie tartlets ! Yummy! (^,^) ... I just love cakes for breakfast, other than bread. In other words, I'll stop writing this blog now, coz my tasty fruit pie tartlets is calling me! Hehehe... Have a nice day, Schoenen Tag alle!

Insomnia Attack

It's 00:59 WIB [GMT +7]... I'm so tired but can't sleep. Getting worst by the day... I can't go to sleep until 3 am... and now I still have 2 hours to do just nothing! I can watch DVDs actually... but no, I'm really not in the mood for that now.

Oh well, today I went out with Radit to Bintaro Plaza buying some blank CDs, then we went to Vana's house... then picked up Radit's girlfriend {Ms. Tatiana aka Nia} at Cilandak Townsquare. She asked to become a member in a gym with her. So that we could work-out together. I'm so into it you know...coz I need to do some sport again.

Lately I don't have a sparring partner to play tennis with. I used to have some friends to play tennis with, but now everybody seems busy with their own activities. Anyway, tomorrow I'm gonna play bowling with my dad. Bowling is also sport, isn't it? hehehe... *nice try! ;) Oh well... I'm a bit hungry, I think I'm gonna take off to hunt down some snacks in the kitchen... late nite supper! That's it for now... Nighty-nite... don't let the bed bugs bite!

Did A Freelance Job

I did a freelance job in a volleyball competition event in Jakarta. It was the Borobudur Cup. There were 5 countries participated in that competition: Indonesia, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), Japan, Myanmar, and Russia.

I was a Liaison Officer for Chinese Taipei volleyball team. I had to take care, look after and serve the team well. Well afterall, Indonesia was well-known for its friendly hospitality. I think I gotta bring that thing up again {after all those bombings... terrorism attacks in Indonesia} so that people would know that Indonesians are nice people. So, I did the job.

During that event, I, personally got attached to the team members... from team manager, coach, assitant coach and of course the players! They're really-really nice... a bunch of great guys. Although there were times where we had miscommunication aka "language barrier thing" {they speak chinese and I obviously don't... Thank God, some of 'em could speak a lil' english! But most of the time, we were using 'Body Language', we managed to go thru those times... I had many funny and beautiful memories with them. Unforgetable. The kind of memories that will touch one's soul. I was their #1 fan during that event ;) and I think I'll always be. They're nice guys with wonderfull skills in volleyball. I'm sure they're gonna be even greater volleyball players than they are now. Now that they already went back to Taiwan, I just hope I could meet them again someday. For now, all I can say, I've missed them... dan gue juga kangen banget sama pria jepun itu. Posted by Hello

Amara Posted by Hello

First thing first!

Okay, this is the part where I should give some infos about myself... kay, let's bring it on!!!

I'm Amara, born on March 17th 19xx ;) I have one younger brother (Abraham) who studies Architecture. What else, huh... hmmm... well, I just graduated from Swiss German University on September 11th, 2004. What I've been doing ever since? I've been doing some freelance jobs... z.B sales force for PermataBank during the Jakarta Motor Show Exhibition and also as, a liaison officer for PBVSI [the Indonesian Volleyball Association] when they held a world-class competition in Jakarta. Can't tell how much these things influenced my way of thinking and living. I'm so grateful with my life. Gott sei Dank :)

Next, ... What do I do usually? Hmmm... watch DVDs [love-movies], write some stuff [based on real-life experience], read interesting books, hang out with my friends and/or cousins, love dogsss (dying to have a golden retriever or shima dog), beaches, learn new things, do sports [tennis, swimming, bowling... but I tried some sports before such as basketball, softball, athletic, volleyball, bowling, jet ski, etc... well, told you that I keen to do new stuff! ;) hehehe] and I can't live a day without music!!! Music is also my life...

I'm a huge-huge fan of Audrey Hepburn! I love all her movies... I also like Natalie Portman. Gawd she's adorable! I love sushi :) I know some people don't like raw fish, but you gotta try this one! But basically I love Japanese, Chinese & Italian food! I enjoy eating tasty food :) I'm also addicted to bread. Any kinds of bread... butter bretzel is my German love. And of course, French croissant! Yummy,,, (^,^)

I'm obsessed with this thing called traveling!!! I'd love to know and experience other nation's culture, other nation's language, landscape beauties... my goal is, I wanna travel around the world before 30!

Have fun reading my blog!
