Goodbye, 2009!

It’s Christmas Day, and I want to take a moment (while I actually have one available) to reflect on 2009. What a year. year! My life has been forever changed this year, and there is no place I’d rather be than where I am right now.

2009 holds the following for me: got to move to one of the most beautiful islands in the world, got to experience the fun job and I’ve also ventured to make strides to improve myself as a daughter, friend, sister, co-worker, and new wife… oh yeah, I GOT MARRIED! :) Something that quite surprised me too. I also lost a dear grandmother in 2009. She was loved. Anw not going into more details, yet I'm thankful to Jesus for giving me such an incredible year. Happy moments, trial moments all within the year... yet He never left my side. Thank you. I'm forever grateful.

To all my readers… Happy Holidays, and here’s hoping you, too, had an amazing 2009, and that 2010 brings you even more smiles, dream fulfillments, and just simple, pure happiness!

Summer Finn & Tom Hansen at the park

T: Why'd you dance with me?
S: Coz I wanted to.
T: You just do what you want don't you? You never wanted to be someone's gf and now you're somebody's wife.
S: Surprised me too.
T: I don't think I'll ever understand that. I mean it doesn't make sense.
S: It just happened.
T: Right that's what I don't understand. What just happened?
S: I just woke up one day and I knew.
T: Knew what?
S: What I was never sure of with you.

At the Karaoke, (500) Days of Summer

McKenzie: [drunk] So do you have a boyfriend?
Summer: No.
McKenzie: Why not?
Summer: Because I don’t want one.
McKenzie: Come on; I don’t believe that.
Summer: You don’t believe that a woman could enjoy being free and independent?
McKenzie: Are you a lesbian?
Summer: [laughing] No I’m not a lesbian. I just, don’t feel comfortable being anyone’s girlfriend. I don’t actually feel comfortable being anyone’s anything.
McKenzie: I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Summer: Really?
McKenzie: Nope.
Summer: Ok, let me break it down for you–
McKenzie: Break it down!
Summer: Ok. I, like being on my own. I think relationships are messy and people’s feelings get hurt. Who needs it? We’re young, we live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world; might as well have fun while we can and, save the serious stuff for later.
McKenzie: You’re a dude. [to Tom] She’s a dude!
Tom: Ok but wait–wait. What happens, if you fall in love?
[she scoffs]
Tom: What?
Summer: You don’t believe that, do you?
Tom: It’s love, it’s not Santa Claus.

I was a Summer Finn before I met my husband (:

(500) Days of Summer

This has to be my movie of 2009.

My closest cousin (yes, that would be you, Ara) told me that Summer Finn reminds her of me. The story is not exactly the same, yet Summer and I both have the opinion about love and how it got changed. Maybe that's also the reason why I have been watching this movie over and over again for the past 2 weeks.

Moreover, Zooey Deschanel, was playing Summer Finn. I love her a lot. She's my girl.

I recommend everybody to watch (500) days of summer.

The 30 Most Satisfying Simple Pleasures Life Has To Offer

  1. Sleeping In on a Rainy Day – As the rain beats lightly against the window, you nestle your head deeper into your pillow. The sound is soothing and your bed feels like a sanctuary. There is no place you would rather be.
  2. Finding Money You Didn’t Know You Had – You reach into your pocket and find a $20 bill from the last time you wore these jeans. You aren’t rich, but you are richer than you were a second earlier.
  3. Making Brief Eye Contact with Someone of the Opposite Sex – You pass her on the street or in the subway. She glances up at you momentarily, making direct eye contact in a way that seems to communicate a subtle curiosity. For a split second it makes you think… and then it’s gone.
  4. Skinny Dipping – There is something mysteriously liberating about being naked in a body of water. You are naked, but it feels natural, a sense of unrefined freedom.
  5. Receiving a Real Letter or Package via Snail Mail – E-mail has become the primary source of written communication. Most snail mail these days is junk mail. When you check the mail and find a real letter or package from someone you know, excitement overtakes you as you tear into this rare gift.
  6. Making the Yellow Light - It’s one of the most common simple pleasures, the act of beating the pack. As you blaze through the yellow light you glance in your rearview to see all the cars behind you stopping at the red light. Yes! You made it!
  7. Telling a Funny or Interesting, True Story - One of the most enticing roles you lead in life is that of the storyteller. You love to share stories, especially those that will captivate your audience with deep curiosity and humor. There are few things more satisfying than telling a true story that others enjoy listening to.
  8. Seeing a Friend Stumble Over Himself – As you walk across the street with your friend, he fails to accurately address the curb on the other side. He trips and stumbles around momentarily before regaining his footing, then swiftly attempts to play it off like nothing happened. This can be a hilarious sight if the moment is right.
  9. Hearing the Right Song at the Right Moment - It doesn’t matter what the setting is, hearing the right song for that moment is one of those simple pleasures in life that instantly lifts your spirits. You could be driving home from work, hanging out at a bar with friends, or jogging. When the right song rattles your ear drums the entire meaning of life seems crystal clear.
  10. The First Sip of a Beverage When You’re Thirsty – You just finished mowing the lawn or taking a long jog. The only thing on your mind is an ice-cold glass of water. When you are really, really thirsty, that first sip of any liquid beverage is sheer bliss.
  11. Catching a Glimpse of Bare Skin on the Opposite Sex – For guys, it’s when the waitress bends over a little too far. For girls it’s seeing that buff guy in a Speedo. Either way, when you see a bit more skin than you were expecting on the opposite sex, you can’t help but to smirk on the inside.
  12. Saying the Same Thing Simultaneously – There is a moment of silence. Then all of the sudden you and your friend blurt out the same exact set of words simultaneously. This rare occurrence is something to smile about.
  13. The Pull-Through Parking Spot – You pull into a parking spot and are delighted to see the availability of the parking spot immediately in front of you. You pull through to the spot in front so that when you return to the car you can drive forward out of the parking spot. Why? Because driving backwards is a pain in the butt.
  14. Realizing You Have More Time to Sleep – Something abruptly awakens you and you think it’s time to get up. Then you squint over at your alarm clock and realize you still have 2 more hours to sleep. A warm euphoric feeling shoots though your body as you glide gracefully back to your dreams.
  15. People Watching – Sitting there on your bench you can see people in every direction. Tall people, small people, thin and plump. Blond, brunette, and redhead alike. Each of them has a different stride and a unique expression. As you drift from body to body you are mesmerized by what you see.
  16. Putting On Clothes Straight from the Dryer – As soon as the dryer buzzes, you pull out your clothes and put them on. They feel soothingly warm on your skin and emit a fresh-scented aroma into the air. A sentiment of ease comes over you as you head out to conquer the day.
  17. A Familiar Smell – You just pulled into your parent’s driveway and opened the car door. You haven’t been home in a long while. You smell familiarity in the air, the scent of a large pine tree in the neighbor’s yard. As you head through the front door, more familiar smells consume your senses. Gosh, it feels good to be home…
  18. The Feeling You Get When Your Idea Works – You have been struggling to resolve a complex problem all day and you just can’t seem to get it right. Filled with frustration, you decide to exercise one last idea before calling it a night. You’ve had many ideas before that failed miserably… but this time it works.
  19. Fresh, Clean Bed Sheets – You yank at the corner of the bedspread to create just enough space to slide your body under the freshly cleaned sheets. The sheets feel cool to the touch. Everything seems so clean, like nobody has ever slept in this bed before.
  20. A Beautiful View – As the car veers around the side of the mountain you gaze out the passenger window. It’s a clear, sunny day and you can see the entire valley below filled with wild flowers and bright green vegetation. The scenery reminds you of something you once saw in National Geographic. But here it is live, right before your eyes.
  21. Reminiscing About Old Times with Your Closest Friends – Pink Floyd once said “the memories of a man in his old age are the deeds of a man in his prime”. There is no simple pleasure more satisfying than recounting the greatest moments of your life with your closest friends who lived these moments alongside you.
  22. Receiving an Unexpected Compliment – It’s been an average day. Nothing really great has happened, but nothing terrible occurred either. This monotonous day has put you in a dreary mood. Unexpectedly, an older, attractive lady taps you on the shoulder, calls you “handsome” and says she loves your shirt. The day just got a whole lot better.
  23. Having a Good Laugh – Laughter is the greatest cure of all. Life is extraordinary in the moments when you are laughing so hard you can barely breathe. These moments of deep laughter are divine in the sense that they cleanse your mood and set your mind on a positive track.
  24. The Feeling After a Healthy Workout - It’s a giddy feeling of self accomplishment; the one true activity that actually makes you feel better and look better simultaneously. When you walk out the front door of the gym you are on top of the world.
  25. The Celebration in the Instant Something Makes Sense – Even now that it has explained to you for the third time, you just don’t understand how it works. Everyone else seems to understand but you. Then out of the blue the dots connect in your mind. You finally get it, and it feels great!
  26. Relaxing Outdoors on a Sunny Day – As you relax sprawled out in a lawn chair, the sun warms your skin and a light breeze keeps the temperature comfortable. Birds are chirping merrily in the trees behind you. You are at complete peace with the environment.
  27. Holding Hands with Someone You Love – Every time she grabs your hand you are overcome with an awareness of how much she means to you. Holding hands is sensual and physically intimate, yet subtle. There are few people you allow to hold your hand, so when it happens you can be sure that the moment is special.
  28. Playing in the Water – Water marvels people of all ages. From jumping in puddles as a child, to doing cannon balls in the pool as an adolescent, to enjoying a cocktail in the Jacuzzi as an adult… water is enjoyable.
  29. Making Someone Smile – You notice that your colleague has been under a great deal of stress with meeting a deadline, so you take it upon yourself to complete one of her indirect responsibilities for her. As soon as she realizes what you did, she comes into your office with a big smile on her face. “Thank you”, she says. You just hit two birds with one stone, because making her smile just made your day.
  30. Finishing What You Started – You just finished up a big project you’ve been working on for the last few months, or maybe you just finished your first marathon… Either way, you finalized what you set out to accomplish. The feeling of self accomplishment you get when you finish what you started is by far one of the most rewarding simple pleasures life has to offer.

9 Hardest Times Of Your Life

    1. Being questioned when you yourself do not understand.

    2. Pretending to be innocent of what you know about.

    3. Trying to forget something you never will.

    4. Admitting you were wrong after being so insistent that you were right.

    5. Debating with yourself.

    6. Accepting the fact that some things are not meant to be.

    7. Trying to understand when you just can’t.

    8. Realizing that you’ve been tricked after you’ve given your whole heart.

    9. Parting and letting go of someone you’ve loved.

    Irena Sendler

The Prize Doesn’t Always Go To The Most Deserving

    Irena Sendler

A 98 year-old German woman named Irena Sendler recently died. During WWII, Irena worked in the Warsaw Ghetto as a plumbing/sewer specialist. Irena smuggled Jewish children out; infants in the bottom of the tool box she carried and older children in a burlap sack she carried in the back of her truck. She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers wanted nothing to do with the dog, and the barking covered the kids’ and infants’ noises. Irena managed to smuggle out and save 2500 children. She eventually was caught, and the Nazis broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar buried under a tree in her backyard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived and reunited some of the families. Most had been killed. She helped those children get placement into foster family homes or adopted.

Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize. She was not selected. Al Gore won - for a slide show on Global Warming.

    How to be Happy?

    via tumblr.

    Chocolate Caliente Recipe

The Spanish are known to be locos for chocolate, since they “discovered” it in the New World 500 years ago. As in centuries past, today the Spanish drink rich hot chocolate for breakfast, so thick that you can stand a churro in it! If the only hot cocoa you’ve ever had is the kind made with powdered envelopes of mix and hot water, you won’t recognize this incredibly rich and flavorful drink. In fact, once you try the Spanish version of hot chocolate, you might be hooked! There are two versions below - one that uses baking chocolate and one that uses sweetened chocolate.

    Prep Time: 10 minutes

    • Sweet Chocolate Version
    • 2 8-ounce cups whole milk
    • 4 ounces milk chocolate
    • 1/2 tsp. cornstarch
    • Baking Chocolate Version
    • 2 8-ounce cups whole milk
    • 3 ounces (3 squares) baking chocolate
    • 1/3-1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/2 tsp. cornstarch

With either type of chocolate, the process is almost the same:
Pour the milk into a medium saucepan and add the cornstarch. Whisk to dissolve the cornstarch. Once the cornstarch is dissolved, heat the milk on medium heat just until it boils, then remove from heat. Add the chocolate squares immediately and begin stirring until the chocolate is completely melted. If the milk cools off too fast, place the pan back on the stove on low heat to melt the chocolate.

If you are using baking chocolate, which is unsweetened, pour the sugar into the chocolate milk mixture and stir until thoroughly dissolved.

Place the pan back on the stove on medium low heat, stirring slowly, but constantly. (Do not cook the mixture over high heat because it may cause lumping.) Taste the chocolate for sweetness and add more sugar if necessary. The mixture should thicken quickly. As soon as you see it thicken, remove the pan from the heat so the cornstarch will not thin. Ladle immediately into cups and serve piping hot.

Note: Be sure to use a clean spoon every time you taste the chocolate. Enzymes from your mouth can cause a thickened cornstarch mixture to thin.

Nubuat Akhir Zaman - Chip Mondex 666

Menurut Webster's Dictionary Encyclopedia Edition artinya::

    * monetary - uang
    * dexter - located on the right hand
    * SET - the Egyptian god of evil or Satan

He causes all to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead. Revelations 13:16
Ole Gorbechov has a mark on his forehead.

AMERICAN EXPRESS is also going with the RFID CHIP

Artinya:

    No Chips, NO buy!
    No Chips, No Sell!
    No Chips, No Food!

    Revelation 13:16-18
He causes all, small and great, rich and poor, and the free men and
the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their
forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or sell,
except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the
number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding
    calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man;
    and his number is 666.

    Revelation 14:9-11
Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud
voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a
mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink of the wine
of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of
His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the
presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.

    DO NOT take this chip!

Thou shalt have NO other GOD before ME,
    saith the LORD GOD JEHOVAH
    Exodus 20

DO NOT take a mark to buy or sell. Revelation 13
If you do you CANNOT enter heaven! Revelation 14

    Mark Mandatory, 666
son of perdition exalts himself above God
to be worshipped as God, showing himself to be God.
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them
that perish; because they received not the love of the Truth,
that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send
them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth,
    but had pleasure in unrigheousness.
    2 Thessalonians 2:4, 10-12

DIGITAL ANGEL UNVEILED & DEMONSTRATED in NEW YORK OCTOBER 31, 2000. SPOOKY! ~ ON HALLOWEEN, 2000.

The 10 horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom.
After them another king will arise, different from the earlier ones,
he will subdue 3 kings. He shall speak pompous, arrogant words
against the Most High, Shall persecute, oppress the saints of the
Most High, He will (intend to change, make alterations in times and law)
(try to change the set times and the laws).
Then the saints shall be handed over to him
for a time and times and half a time.
    (3 and a half years)

But the court will sit for judgment,
and his dominion power will be taken away,
and completely annihilated and destroyed forever.
Then the sovereignty, power, dominion and the greatness of
all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the people
    of the saints of the Highest One;
His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom,
and all the dominions will serve and obey Him.

    Info Tentang Big Brother :
Starting in 2009, police may be able to stop vehicles in their tracks with a simple phone call. The technology would come as part of something that most of us are already familiar with: General Motors' OnStar system. GM and OnStar demoed a prototype today of the new feature, called Stolen Vehicle Slowdown, which will be targeted at... well, stolen vehicles on the road. Stolen Vehicle Slowdown will come as part of OnStar's newest hardware, which will be available in some 1.7 million vehicles in 2009.

"We look forward to having technologies like Stolen Vehicle Slowdown available to aid our officers in apprehending suspected car thieves and keeping our officers, highways and citizens safe," said the national VP of the Fraternal Order of Police, David Hiller. "Since 1996, OnStar has assisted the law enforcement community by helping to locate stolen vehicles."

The OnStar system currently performs a number of useful functions that we've heard so much about on TV commercials. It is often used to locate lost or stolen vehicles via GPS, can locate customers immediately in the event of a car crash, and call 911. It also allows customers to call in to have the car unlocked if they get accidentally locked out. (Anyone want to take bets on this being the most-used OnStar feature?) GM says that it currently receives about 700 requests per month to help find stolen vehicles.

The process for Stolen Vehicle Slowdown would go something like this. A customer calls OnStar to report that his vehicle has been stolen, which would prompt OnStar to locate the car via GPS. OnStar would then provide the car's information and location to law enforcement in the area. The police, when they are able to establish a clear line of sight on the stolen vehicle, can then call into OnStar and request that the car be slowed down remotely. OnStar would then send a signal to the car that would instruct it to reduce engine power, thus slowing the car to an eventual stop.

Stolen Vehicle Slowdown is a significant milestone in another way: now mass-produced cars can be remotely controlled, and GM says that it might sell the technology to other carmakers in the future. And as long as the companies tout that it can cut down on dangerous police chases, it's easy to see why the general public might get excited over it.

But one concern would be whether the police could slow down any car with OnStar capabilities whenever they want—after all, no one wants to be driving along and suddenly have the car forced to a (slow) stop for any old reason. Indeed, there are number of troubling ways in which the new OnStar tech could be misused and abused. But GM says that OnStar customers will have the ability to opt out of the Stolen Vehicle Slowdown feature at any time if they should so choose, although the company says that its research shows that 95 percent of its subscribers want the service for their vehicles.

    My Oma

Oma and her 11 grandchildren, Christmas Eve 1990, Bandung.

I remember the times we spent together when I was a little girl. I lived in the same city as my Oma, Bandung, from 1989 to 1993. I was in the elementary school and Oma sometimes picked me up from school everytime dad was in Jakarta/Manado and mom was attending her class (Mom was taking her master degree back then in Bandung). Then she brought me to her house, fed me and letting me watched the TV. She sat right next to me the whole time. Come to think of it, I missed her cooking, those sometimes manadonese and dutch cuisines. Also the times when she took me to do groceries, and even though she wasn’t the type of lady who spends money, yet she let me to buy (cheap) chocolates / chips ☺. She had money, but she didn’t like spending them. She always bargains, it was her specialty. I couldn’t help but smile remembering this specialty of hers. My family is fully aware of this one, and every one of us have memories with Oma in regards to her bargaining skill… ☺Probably it's because she was raised in Dutch culture and received Dutch education. Maybe. --- no offense to the Dutches *wink

She spoke Dutch (yes, she's Indonesian yet Dutch language is her mother tongue), French, Japanese, English and Indonesian. Well at least now I know where my obsession to speak many languages came from.

She always gave money to her grandchildren every Christmas, all her 11 grandchildren. Since the amount was too small for us, the grandchildren, we always teased her, “Omaaaa, how come you only give us this much? Can you add more?” then she gave her straight face and said, “I already gave you money, take it or leave it.” Haha.. she surely was a tough lady. And at every family gathering, she prayed for 30 minutes, all of us, the grandchildren (constantly) protested, “Oma, your prayers were too long, can you shortened them next time?”. Funny how we missed the long prayers now. We spent every Christmas – New Year’s holiday in Bandung, at her house from 1989 to mid 2000s . They were the best Christmases EVER, the true meaning of Christmas with my family.

She participated actively at Church, joined the church choir, dedicated her life to God. She was a true God’s servant and God’s child. Read bible every morning and every night. Her bible was old yet full with notes, she was one very faithful woman. I admire her for that.

In 1993, my family already resided in Jakarta. One day, we got a call from Uncle Ben that Oma got an accident in her house. The kitchen blew up and got her legs burnt. It was horrible and terrifying. Our family rushed to Bandung and went straight to Santo Borromeus Hospital where she was put in ICU and in very bad condition. She hospitalized for 3 months and lost the ability to walk. She underwent therapies so she could walk again with a stick. But boy, SHE NEVER COMPLAINED NOR WHINED. Everybody knows the pain was almost unbearable. She was a strong lady; if it was me I’d complain like a bitch. She's the toughest lady I've ever known in my life.

Few months later she was released from the hospital, then she lived with uncle Ben, her son. Uncle Ben was very busy back then, went abroad pretty often so she was rotated to her children's houses every month. When she stayed at our house, she slept in my room. My room was dedicated to her. It’s nice to accompany her watching the telly after school. Every nite, she opened her wallet and looking at her most precious thing there. A wallet sized photo of her and Opa, her dearly beloved husband. Opa passed away 32 years ago, on October 2nd 1977. She missed him ever since and never re-marry. She loved Opa way too much, Opa was her first, last and only love. Every night, she mentioned that she can’t wait to be reunited with Opa in heaven, simply because she missed him too much. My reaction was always the same, “Oma don’t say that!!! I don’t want you to leave.” She just smiled everytime I said that. She told me their love story, she told me how handsome my Opa was, how smart, funny, witty, gentle and extremely kind. Oma’s mother tongue was Dutch, she learnt Bahasa Indonesia when she was 17 years old. Because Opa encouraged her to learn their own language. Opa was a nationalist. Sometime I teased Oma, “Wow Opa was so handsome! If we’re the same age, I’d definitely fall for him.” Then she replied, “No, he is mine and mine alone.” then smiled and touching opa's face in the picture. How sweet!! That's what I called true and everlasting love.

Everytime my cousins came to the house, we often chatting with Oma and joking around. We tickled her a lot until she laughed out loud. She was enjoying being around her grandchildren. We, the grandchildren enjoyed being with her as well. We kissed her everytime we see her, eventhough the last 3 years of her life, Alzheimer attacked her. All her new memories were erased; the memories in her head were only the old ones: her childhood and her life when Opa was still alive.

She had 5 children, 5 in-laws, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren who loved her. She was very blessed. As my mother said, “Oma lived and dedicated her life to God and her family unconditionally.”

She died in her sleep at 6 AM that day. October 7th 2009. She was 84 years old and had a wonderful and full life. I flew to Bandung from Bali in the afternoon to bid farewell to my Oma. It was an unpleasant trip. It was my first time to land in Bandung airport with commercial airlines. The first time I landed there was with private jet owned by my dad’s friend. So the flight was great and I felt safe. Flying with this commercial airline was really scary; and it was an old (OLD) 737-300 aircraft. Really, a crappy rusty one. Mind you that there are only 2 airlines fly to Bandung from Bali. I got no choice that day, the better one is fully booked that day so I had to fly with this airline with pigeon logo. Thank God I got there safe and sound. My brother also flew from Singapore to Jakarta that day, but he arrived pretty late so he and dad came to Bandung the next morning.

When I arrived, I went straight to my Uncle Ben’s house. Bandung was in horrible traffic because of the heavy rain. In front of Uncle Ben's house already full with condolences flowers board. I dragged my suitcase inside and stood in front of living room entrance and prepared myself not to explode in tears. There it was, the coffin… with my Oma in it. I hesitated to go straight to go to the coffin. I still couldn’t accept the fact that she’s gone. After a minute, I walked there… then saw her beautiful yet peaceful face. My tears streaming down my face, I couldn’t help it. I was terribly horribly sad. Then my mom came to me and hugged me. Then she said to me, “Look at Oma’s kebaya. She’s wearing your kebaya.” Then I cried even harder. I’m so glad the kebaya fits her perfectly. It was her wish, to wear a white kebaya as her last wardrobe. And it happened to be one of mine! ☺

Then I greeted my big family; my aunts, uncles, cousins and guests who came. I hugged Opa Dee, the only brother of Oma who is still alive and well, he was really sad. It was his birthday yet his sister died on that day. All his 6 siblings already passed away now. The last few years, he often came to Bandung to visit her sister, Oma. Just to chat with her and brought up smile on Oma’s face. I was calming myself in one of the bedrooms then I heard my other cousin came and crying hard. I didn’t wanna go out of the room because I didn’t wanna cry again. I was tired of crying that day. I cried since the very morning when my dad called telling me that she had passed away. Then Oma’s nanny came, I must admit, she cried the loudest. She took care of her everyday, bathed her, fed her, accompanied her and even sang to her. Good to know that Oma was in good hands on her last years. Oma’s death was really hard for the nanny too. She loved Oma like her own grandmother. I thank you, Nani.

Later that night, we had this sermon. A lot of people came, relatives and friends of our family. Everytime I stood next to the coffin, I caressed her face and cried again. I really missed her. Then it’s resting time. Oma’s coffin was placed in the living room, all the doors were opened wide, lots of wind. Our bedroom’s door was also opened, so we could feel close to her. The nanny slept on the sofa right next to her coffin. My mom couldn’t sleep at all so were Aunt Lany, Uncle Ben and I. We chatted until 4 AM… I fell asleep for an hour then got up 5.30 AM, my mother slept beside me was gone. When I got out, mom was sitting next to her coffin just looking at Oma with her sad face. Uncle Ben’s maid suddenly cried out loud, she missed Oma too. Mom hugged her and said to her that it was okay to cry. It was a very emotional morning.

Then we got ready to begin the morning and farewell sermon for Oma, before closing the coffin. All of us, the family, cried. Opa / Prof. Hanny Waworuntu, her cousin, bid her farewell and said to her that he has great memories with Oma & Opa. Then the hardest part came, time to say goodbye. Everyone cried. When it’s my turn, I kissed her forehead and whispered to her, “Mara loves you Oma…” then I cried like a baby. I suck at letting go and say goodbyes to my loved ones, especially this one. There are so many things I wanted to say, but I guess, I just wanted her to know that I love her. All her family cried hard, I caressed her hands for couple seconds before they closed the coffin. Then coffin closed. All her grandsons were the pallbearers, took the coffin to the ambulance and from ambulance to the empty grave next to Opa’s grave. I got goosebumps when Oma’s coffin reached the empty grave, finally… after 32 years, she and Opa reunited. I touched Opa’s grave and said, “Opa, Oma is here now. You must be happy now. You get to meet her again, take good care of her and be happy in heaven.”

We said goodbye again after the coffin was placed in on the bottom of the grave. I started to feel at ease… I know that she’s happy now. She’s in much better place with Jesus and Opa. Shine down on us from heaven, Oma… Opa… and Lord Jesus.

    So Kelly Bag's Printed Ad

    via Google/imagesearch

My favorite commercial ever!!! Because of those Siberian Huskies and the cute husky pup tucked into the So Kelly Bag. My parents showed me this ad last week, they said: “If you have to choose, the pup or the bag. Which one will it be? Because we are sure you can’t pick either one.” Ha-ha, very fun mom, dad. But they know me so well. I can’t. I want both of them equally :D

When it comes to capturing the season, few ads do it as well as the latest Hermes commercial. It’s all snow, ice, and luxurious furs in this celebration of wintery weather! Well in my opinion, Hermes always has the best commercials.

Sweden’s Ice Hotel is the ideal backdrop for this frosty photo shoot. The white snow ensures that scarlet alligator So Kelly bag pops, and Raquel Zimmerman’s dewy skin glows against her dark furry hood.

The Secrets Inside Your Dog's Mind

The Secrets Inside Your Dog's Mind

    Eat, Pray, Love.

A woman who once made it her goal in life to marry and rear a family finds her priorities suddenly shifting in director Ryan Murphy’s adaptation of author Elizabeth Gilbert’s best-selling memoir. In the eyes of many, Gilbert was a woman who had it all — a loving husband, a great apartment, and a weekend home — but sometimes one realizes too little too late that they haven’t gotten what they truly wanted from life. On the heels of a painful divorce, the woman who had previously looked forward to a contented life of domesticated bliss sets out to explore the world and seek out her true destiny. Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner produce a film starring Pretty Woman and Erin Brockovich beauty Julia Roberts.

Amara: I live in Bali and one of the shooting locations is just between my house and my office. Please let it be that one day when I pass by, I’d see Julia Roberts there. Eventhough I'm not exactly a big fan, meeting hollywood starsis kinda wonderful! I’d definitely pull over and hunt her for a pic together. I swear I’ll post the pic on this blog :D Amen.

    Batik Day, October 2nd.

Special day, because President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on all Indonesians to wear batik on that day to celebrate UNESCO’s decision to include batik in its list of “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” items.

I’m proud to be Indonesian and I wear Batik on October 2nd 2009

    Warrior of the Light

I already posted this entry 2 years ago on my Multiply account and wanted to repost here on my blog. Main reason: This is one of my favorites and so encouraging.

    Warrior of the Light
    by Paulo Coelho

    Part I

Every warrior of The Light has felt afraid of going into battle.

Every warrior of The Light has, at some time in the past, lied or betrayed someone.

Every warrior of The Light has trodden a path that was not his.

Every warrior of The Light has suffered for the most trivial of reasons.

Every warrior of The Light has, at least once, believed that he was not a Warrior of the Light.

Every warrior of The Light has failed in his spiritual duties.

Every warrior of The Light has said “yes” when he wanted to say “no”.

Every warrior of The Light has hurt someone he loved.

That is why he is a Warrior of the Light, because he has been through all this and yet never lost hope of being better than he is.

    Part II

A warrior of the Light knows that certain moments repeat themselves.

He often finds himself faced by the same problems and situations, and seeing these difficult situations return, he grows depressed, thinking that he is incapable of making any progress in life.

“I’ve been through all this before,” he says to his heart.

“Yes, you have been through all this before,” replies his heart. “But you have never been beyond it.’”

Then the Warrior realizes that these repeated experiences have but one aim: to teach him what he does not want to learn.

    Part III

A Warrior of the Light often loses heart.

He believes that nothing can stir in him the emotion he desires. He is forced to spend many nights feeling that he is one of the vanquished, and nothing seems able to restore his enthusiasm.

His friends say: “Perhaps his fight is over.”

The Warrior feels pain and confusion when he hears such remarks because he knows that he has not yet reached the place he wanted to reach. But he is stubborn and refuses to relinquish his aims.

Then, when he least expects it, a new door opens.

    Part IV

From now on-and for the next few hundred years-the Universe is going to help Warriors of the Light and hinder the prejudiced.

The Earth’s energy needs to be renewed.

    New ideas need space.

Body and soul need new challenges.

The future has become the present, and every dream-except those dreams that involve preconceived ideas-will have a chance to be heard.

Anything of importance will remain. Anything useless will disappear. It is not the Warrior’s responsibility, however, to judge the dreams of others, and he does not waste time criticizing other people’s decisions.

In order it have faith in his own path, he does not need to prove that someone else’s path is wrong.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves

    being a geeky bookworm

So next to traveling and taking pictures, I LOVE reading. Yeah, I'm a geeky bookworm and I'm SO not ashamed to admit it! I was raised on books more than television and even now, in my late 20s, I read every chance I get- and I'm one of those addicts who CAN'T PUT DOWN A BOOK ONCE I START READING. I got this 'behavior' from my dad, he loves books. Anyway instead of putting a list on this blog page of all the books I love and am waiting to love I thought I'd link you all up to an awesome website full of other book lovers (although they may not all be as geeky as yours truly ;) haha) So here is my profile on the site:

so you can all check out the books I've read, what I'm waiting to read, and what I'm currently reading :) you know... if you feel like it.

I'm always giving my friends books or recommending books or giving away books once I've read and fell in love with them... and I'm always open to recommendations so if you've read any good books lately, let me know!

    happy reading!

    New Idols

I'm following this season's American Idol and became Adam Lambert's fan since the first time I saw him performed. He's amazing. I call him, Adamazing Lambert. He could reach the nearly impossible high notes and I can always feel the emotion everytime he sings. Watch these videos and prove me wrong...

and I read on my friend's twitter (yes, I'm on a mission to find twitter worthy of my time and effort - so far, it goes really well ;D ) about this contestant of Holland's Got Talent. I can only say: FUNNY SHIIIITTTT

"Britney Spear" --- yes, Spear not Spears.

Philophobia: Fear of falling in love or being in love

People say, finding The One is a far cry from easy. It takes time, God knows how long. Most people have to pass the awful heartbreaks in the process.. some people are just lucky having their paths crossed with their true love in their early days of searching. I happened to be one of the most people, a girl with acute Philophobia. I fell in and out of love several times before I found The One.

Before my husband and I decided to get married, never in my mind had I ever imagine that it would've been him. He made a move on me when I was least expecting love. He caught me off guard, roughly speaking.

I wasn't expecting any romance at that time. I was too bitter to even believe in love. I believed that men can't be trusted. I believed that I could live happily on my own. I believed that relationship is unnecessary, I believed in marriage... NOT!!! I felt so insecure with love and all the sweet things that go with it. To me, love was just an illusion and not long-lasting.

Obviously I was wrong, now as love already found me... I choose to believe in it. As long as that person is The One for you, it would be easier to believe in love actually. Today I believe that trust must be earned. I believe that commitment is sacred. I believe that I'm better with the one I love in living my life. I believe relationship is a blessing and needs to be worked on. Now... I believe in love.

I was one of them. Young adults, work from 9 to 9, go socializing after work and weekends, fun to be around, lots of friends, failed in relationships several times and it hurts more everytime... Remember ladies, the more your work performance improve, the more messed up your personal life is. There is no such thing as having a balanced life, you cannot have it all. Accept that and make a good decision for yourself. Do not torment yourself. People lie when they tell you they have a very balanced life, they are just people who cannot accept them for themselves. You can try though, if you want. But don't say I didn't warn you! Last but not least, these girls needs to be saved and longing to be saved... actually.

Yes, in the outer shell people see that these girls are strong, independent and brave. But th inner shell, they are affraid someone is not coming their way, desperate to be saved by love, hopeless romantic and oh, all the cynicism about love is just their way to cover up their weaknesses.

You can agree or disagree, above paragraphs are my personal thoughts. I was a Philophobia, but now I'm saved! How about you?
