Need Your Vote!

My darling readers, I need your help to win a pair of Swedish Hasbeens high-heeled clogs or tassel loafer sky high. I've been wanting to have a pair of these sweet things  for almost 2 years now but however I couldn't find them in Jakarta nor in Singapore. 

Many brands also sell these Swedish Hasbeens look-alike clogs and I saw these Hadley Clogs at Cotton On Singapore last year. Tried them many times, tried to convince myself that they're comfortable (not) and worth the price - S$30. Yes, I'm in love with them eventhough they're only Swedish Hasbeens copies,  but I followed my gut to not buy them, I still want the original! Especially when the original Swedish Hasbeens are super comfortable and long lasting (always remember, high price is a sign of good quality).

Then one of my favorite bloggers, Erin from calivintage, blog about this contest by Swedish Hasbeens. The prize is a pair of swedish hasbeens from their fall 2011 collection for the contestant and the partner. I already submitted a photo to their website, please vote for me! Woohoo my favorite team won! Goodness, there were some heart stopping moments there but true to form they barred up and made their fans proud and happy. France played very well too, both teams fought a good fight.Yay All Blacks!!!

RIP Marco Simoncelli

I'm not a fan of Moto GP and yet, it is heartbreaking to hear one skillful / talented rider died after a horrific crash in a race. My cousin apparently was at Sepang Circuit (where it happened) and took this photo below, which I think would be great to remember him by as one of the great riders. Photobooth Pics

Few days ago, my cousin Lala, my sis-in-law Monique and I invaded my brother's studio and took several photobooth pics. Such a fun afternoon full of laughter!

Be Humanitarian

I just voted for Robin Lim as CNN Hero of the Year. Amazing woman. Check out her website: Robin Lim Support. I love people like her and Budi Soehardi who was also on Top 10 CNN Heroes in 2009 for championing children. People like them are truly amazing. And since I've always wanted to become a philanthropist  (thank you Audrey Hepburn for the inspiration) and I did list this thing on my new year's resolution this year (see list #2), moreover as of September 2011, I'm officially one of United Nations online volunteers.Yay!

This is only the beginning, I'm planning to contribute more next year and many years to come, for as long as I live. Because for all I know, there's a world out there that isn't a fun place for everyone. I'm grateful for my life and I want to share what I have with people who are less fortunate. I take each tiny little change, one baby step at a time. If you add all those baby steps together, it is a journey. Like the old saying, "A journey of a thousand miles starts in front of your feet." Make no mistake, I'm no angel, I'm just trying to make a difference in my life and other people's lives. And as a Christian,  trying to apply the "What Would Jesus Do" to my life.

We seriously need to become aware of the world around us, don't act like we’re the only people on the face of the planet and while we complain about heartbreaks or stuck in bad traffic. There are people going through REAL situations out there. Let’s open our eyes and see that life is about a much bigger picture, it’s not about us…

Javanese Royal Wedding

On October 18th, the Palace of Yogyakarta Hadiningrat held the grand royal wedding between Princess Gusti Raden Ajeng Nur Astuti Wijareni (now Gusti Kanjeng Queen Bendara), youngest daughter of the Sultan of Yogyakarta, and Achmad Ubaidillah (now Kanjeng Prince Haryo (KPH) Yudhanegara ). I'm not a Javanese but I do enjoy their wedding procession. Happy Wedding GKR Bendara amd KPH Yudhanegara.

No Cellphones, Please.

So you are at a restaurant / cafe / coffee shop, and the people with you are not really listening nor interacting with each other. They're just murmuring occasional assent to your remarks, or nodding at appropriate junctures, but for the most part, they're looking beyond you, scanning in search of something or someone more compelling, using their smartphones.

Is this the new era where we stop talking to one another verbally?

I am not saying we should not have smartphones because they are very important when it comes to dealing with emergencies and keeping in contact with the family, friends even business partners, but this over-use is getting completely out of hand. You CAN turn the smartphone off for a few hours because you don't always have to be in contact with everyone all the time. 

Yes, I'm clearly aware that this is not one of a pleasant blog posts, but I do feel I have to blog about this "issue". I do own an iPhone and feel incomplete everytime I accidentally left my phone at home. HOWEVER, I'm not the kind of person who always holds / checks on the phone every 2 minutes while hanging out with my friends or anybody. I find it disrespectful and somewhat appalling. When that happens, usually my mood drops a bit and wanting to get out of there as quickly as possible.  And I know I'm not the only one because some of my friends and other people feel the same. So please keep your thumbs still when people are talking to you. Don't let technology ruins your friendship / other relationship. It wouldn't hurt you to learn some manners right?

Letting God

This morning I made a serious move towards one of my long time dreams. Why? Because I don't want to spend the rest of my life wondering and asking myself this dreaded question of all time, "What If". And based on my husband's personal experience and those old wise sayings, it is never too late to reach for your dream. I have done my (probably) best and I will let God do the rest. If I succeed, it is only by God's grace.

I don't have control over all the events of my live, but upon reflection, I do realize that I have the power of choice. Every choice I made matters, they take me to where I am today. I may not where I intended to go but I believe that I am where I needed to be and in the right direction where I'm going to be at. I have no regrets, I actually happy that I have gone through all those good and bad experiences. They make me a stronger person and appreciate life more.

But if there's one thing that I learned over the years, my Lord Jesus always gives me what I need instead of what I want. He has greater plans for me in store and in full control of my life. So just like any other day in my life, I surrender my life to Him. Because I know that faith in Jesus includes faith in his timing. I just need to be strong and brave!

Bhutan's Royal Wedding

I love Royal Weddings! Yesterday Bhutan's King Jigme finally married his longtime girlfriend, Jetsun Pema (what a pretty name), making her Queen of Bhutan. I love the colorful traditional Kira robes worn by the beautiful bride and much to my surprise, it took three years to weave.

Chewy & Lowy on Instagram!

Two days ago, I submitted a photo of Chewy & Lowy to Dogs of Instagram account. To my surprise, they uploaded the photo last night on their instagram account!!! 

Here are my iPhone's screenshots from that night... 

This notification from @dogsintagram made me jumped out of the bed and screamed happily!

When I woke up this morning and checked the instagram, Chewy & Lowy's pic was still on popular page! Yay!

My computer's printscreen 5 minutes ago. 1900 people liked the photo and around 60 people left lovely comments! Those small things they did, take up the most room in my heart.

I'm making a big deal out of this, I know. But I have my reasons.

First, I love Chewy and Lowy very much. They're my pride and joy. And the world needs to know that these two amazing huskies exist! I'm a proud mama, what can I say?

Second, This started of as me showing off my beautiful and expressive-in-front-of-the-camera huskies. But then... someone who saw their pic on dogsofinstagram account left me a comment on my instagram account that touched my heart. This is what she wrote:

This insignificant / silly thing I did apparently managed to give other people something money can't buy. To be able giving people strength / happiness / comfort they need is priceless! This is something that I want to do constantly. But of course I will find another way that does not involve me showing off my huskies' pics (;

It's great if you are always striving to find the way to make your mark, to make a difference and to leave the greatest impact on other people, animals and the environment.  By doing great efforts and accomplishments, because you have been trained to believe that only the bigness of effort and outcome is what is important.

But always remember to consider the small things. They will not necessarily make you as one of those admirable CNN heroes finalists, but they will make a big difference in other people's life - not to mention yours. Let us do the small loving things daily in a conscious way, as I'm sure they will certainly add up to greatness overall.

Just like Vincent van Gogh once said, "Great things are not done by impulse but by a series of small things brought together."
