Yay or Nay?

Macaroons
Yay or nay? Naaayyy!!! I don't love macaroons albeit they really are delicious and come in an insane range of flavors. Yes a lot of people love macaroons, doesn't mean I have to love them as well. Well okay, maybe there are some particular macaroons that I like... the ones from pâtisserie Sadaharu Aoki and Pierre Hermé I like them both! But Ladurée, not so much. Maybe a lot of people going crazy for Ladurée because they haven't tried the ones from pâtisserie Sadaharu Aoki and Pierre Hermé. In Bali, there was this small macaroon shop that I also quite like, it used to be inside the Metis restaurant. But the few weeks ago I went there and found that the macaroon shop is out of business, oh dear. In conclusion, I don't go gaga over macaroons except they're from pâtisserie Sadaharu Aoki and Pierre Hermé (:

Cupcakes
Yay or nay? Ehm... not a fan. If someone give cupcakes to me, I'll eat one. But I won't buy cupcakes myself. Too thick icing, too sugary and the flavors don't work on me. So, nay.

Green velvet cupcakes = perfect treat for St. Patty’s Day. Why I picked this photo? Because my birthday = St. Patty's Day lol
Apple Strudle (Apfelstrudle)
Yay or nay? Yaaaayyy!!! (: In Indonesia, I always buy apple strudle from Corica and Domino's Pizza. And of course, at the annual Christkindl-markt event at Hotel Aryaduta Jakarta.  They're so gooooood! Corica, originally from Perth is my favorite since the first time I tasted one back in 2004-ish. Soft pastry and flaky to the fork with perfectly sweetened custard along with with soft, sweetened apples. Ugh now I'm craving for it. Blah. I. Want. Corica. Right. Now.

Yoghurt
Yay or nay? Well... I gotta say, yay. HOWEVER, I somehow do not enjoy drinking yoghurt, both plain and flavored ones. I only love frozen yoghurt and my favorite places to get froyo are Sour Sally and JCool. Red Mango in Indonesia not so much, because they don't have mochi topping.

Getting my froyo at J.Cool

Will always love plain froyo with longan and mochi toppings (:

Magnum Ice Cream
Yay or nay? Well I only love the vanilla ice cream, but the so-called Belgian chocolate covering the vanilla ice cream? Nope.

White Chocolate
Yay or nay? Naaaayyy... too sweet. I love milk chocolate with cashew nuts / biscuits / macadamia nuts / hazelnuts - favorite brand: Hawaiian Host, Lindt, Godiva, Valrhona, Choceur - Rahm Mandel, Nestle and Milka.

RIP Dame Elizabeth Taylor

The beauty legend passed away yesterday (March 23rd 2011 at the age of 79). My Idol, Audrey Hepburn, may be the legendary fashion icon, yet Dame Elizabeth Taylor beyond any doubt, the legendary beauty icon. Her face was flawlessly symmetrical; she had no bad angle, and her eyes were of the deepest violet. Rest in peace, one of the most beautiful women ever graced Hollywood.

I will honor her by watching A Place In The Sun and Cleopatra soon!!! (:

Give. Remember always to give. That is the thing that will make you grow. - Elizabeth Taylor

You are who you are. All you can do in this world is help others to be who they are and better themselves and those around them. - Elizabeth Taylor

I've had many tragedies in my life, but I guess they have all taught me something. I have to look at it that way. I give love and I'm surrounded by love...and I thank God for that. - Elizabeth Taylor

Joel Osteen Podcast

There are times - with enormous guilt, I confess: many times - I fail to attend Sunday Church Service. This is when the internet, iTunes and Joel Osteen Ministry, which provide a virtual worship space free to anyone on the Internet, come in handy. But I still prefer going to church lah. I'd like to think that I'm a good Christian, well at least I'm trying.

Out of many pastors in the world, I like Joel Osteen the most. I've been to Benny Hinn's Miracle Crusade few years ago and truly felt God's presence during the event and also hear other pastors' sermons, but I feel more connected to Joel Osteen's sermons, I also read his daily devotionals. So comforting - well, to me everything according to the bible is comforting (: And oh, for daily devotionals I also love reading the ones from Streaming Faith!

I love the part where he raises his Bible and asks everyone in the audience to raise their Bibles in the air. Then the whole people in the church chant the following words:
“This is my Bible. I am what it says I am. I have what it says I have. I can do what it says I can do. Today I will be taught the word of God. I boldly confess my mind is alert, my heart is receptive; I'll never be the same. In Jesus name, God bless you.”
I know some people who think that he's a materialist pastor because he has big house and pretty wealthy, I don't care about that. That is his business with God, not with people. I really think that religion is very intimate and private (well since this blog is my diary, I can share my innermost part and intimate details, can't I?) and I keep wondering why people have to harass, threat, attack those who don't share the same beliefs since it's truly none of their business?! --- ergh sorry can't help it. Anyhoo, I like the way Joel Osteen delivers the words of God. And if you are a Christian and fail to attend Sunday Church Service everytime, download his podcast and you can watch the videos on iTunes. Well you can also sync the podcast videos to your iPhone / iPad / iPod, then you can watch the videos anywhere, anytime.

#prayforjapan

One of the largest earthquakes in recorded history hit Japan last Friday, March 11, 2001, shaking cities and villages along a 1,300-mile stretch of coastline with terrifying tremors felt as far away as Tokyo, hundreds of miles from the epicenter. The quake killed and injured many people and unleashed a monster 33-foot-high tsunami that sent ships crashing into shore, wiped away homes, carried cars through the streets of towns and took away many lives.

My family and I were in front of the television when that catastrophe happened, we watched how the powerful tsunami came in and swept away the cars, homes, buildings, ships and people. It was devastating and horrifying. To think that an hour before the tsunami, those people were laughing - working - running errands - relaxing - sleeping, everything was normal - just another day in Northern part of Japan. Then an hour later, they were all gone. I actually visualized that on my mind and got very disturbed seconds later.

The earthquake was terrible as well, many people injured and infrastructures heavily damaged. Thank God, my friends and some of my family in Tokyo are safe and sound. Here are the photos of the devastating catastrophe...

No matter how advanced a country is, mother nature is still in full control. There is nothing we can do but to pray for Japan, make donations and be grateful that we still have more days to live.

My love and prayer go out to all those effected by these horrible events... God bless us all.

Comfort Zone

I was never the girl who likes sitting and settling down in a comfort zone. Until today, I still think that I am still that girl.

Leaving the comfort zones were definitely the one thing that keeps me growing. One will never grow when in comfort zone. People dream, yet many are not brave enough.. or should I say, many people don't have the courage to chase their dreams.

One example, how many people who live in Jakarta that complain (almost freaking everyday) about the superbad traffic and do nothing about it. They say, "Jakarta is crap! Get me out of this city!!!" ; "Let's move to other city/country." ; "I can't stand this city anymore." ; "Jakarta is craphole!!" ; "I don't want to live here anymore..." aaaand, how many of them actually act / do what they say / want? How many? Moreover how often do you hear those statements?

Exactly.

When I was too fed up with Jakarta --- I had steady job with good salary and position, then just left it all behind for Bali. I had to look for a job and ended up working in the industry I've never worked before.  Definitely not easy at all. When back in Jakarta, I chose to run my own business / work from home, for me it is more acceptable and make sense because I really don't like and don't want to complain everyday about the traffic like everybody else. I just want to love... Jakarta. Besides, life happens when you're busy complaining. If you don't like something, then do something about it.

But these are what they usually say when I told them to actually find a job out of Jakarta: "Oh but my family is here." ; "But I already has a good job with good salary." ; "I can't and don't wanna leave my boyfriend and girlfriend here..." ; "It is not that easy, it's too complicated." ;  "I don't think I'm ready." ; "I don't have the money." ; "I don't have friends elsewhere." --------- COMFORT ZONES.

They could, but they don't want to leave their comfort zone. Is it bad? It's not a bad thing at all, but it just defines people's character. Some people do have the courage to leave their comfort zones, some people could only dream about it.

I love to quote The Secret and truly believe in good things happening to me even when I have to leave my comfort zone, and think about life with a lot of joy and positivity instead of dwelling in sorrow and disappointment. Its the only way! One of my favorite parts of the Secret is You can have, do or be anything you want

Only after making these intentions and believing that I deserve them and they can come true do they appear in my life.  A lot of people give me gruff (is that a word?) for just believing they will come true. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. You don’t have to know what the path looks like, but if you see the end result, you can achieve it!! People always say I'm reckless and always do whatever I want to do without considering anything. That is plain wrong. People who say such thing, they don't know me. But hey, we can all agree to disagree.

I have to say this once again, I'm not here to lecture, I'm merely sharing. Yes it has always been easy for me to leave my comfort zone because I have the courage and best of all, I have faith in my God that He would only give me the best things. He won't let me down and He will always keep me safe. Leaving my comfort zone again some time soon? Oh yes I will, gladly.
