Fabo Links

Haven't posted few of my favorite things from all over the internet. It's time.

I love Design Sponge's website, they give great ideas into my everyday life. Been a fan since 2007 and still going strong (: Thanks Grace Bonney!

One of my favorite categories on Design Sponge would be the Living In articles. Check out some of my favorites:
Breakfast at Tiffany's (naturally),
Troop Beverly Hills (Yes, I know all of the lines to the movie. I've watched it since I was 7 - and I love the yellow and white striped stuffs),
Breathless (Aahh Jean Seberg and all those stripes clothes),
The original Parent Trap (Cute vintage items),
The Graduate (I love Mrs Robinson's house decor - great movie too!)
Coco Before Chanel (The Sailor Stripes and the classy and elegant style)
An Education (must love all the vintage clothes and accessories)

Also Design Sponge's Entertaining section, esp the recipes! I'm going to try out this Melissa Clark's Bacon, Rosemary and Tomato Pasta and will serve this dish to my husband when he's in town for a short visit! He loves pasta and adores bacon!

I love this Lands' End Canvas Look Book app on my iPad.

If you're an Interior Designer, you must have these 5 apps installed on your iPad.

This DIY looks quite easy and I love the turquoise colored tapered rectangle top. I hope I have the skill (and time) to do it (;

I AM NOT A FAN OF LADY GAGA (yes, this statement must be typed in capital letters) and on the contrary I LOVE TONY BENNETT. In this video, Tony Bennett as usual delivers a great performance (gotta love this old champ) and I must admit that Lady Gaga is doing a pretty good job here too. Still not a fan of her, but I do like this video.

Another incredibly easy DIY: Wrap-Turned-Scarf. Care to try?

Starting to love Kelly Framel's jewelry shop.

Also, today's October 12th! Don't forget to update your iTunes to 10.5 version so you can update your iPhone / iPod / iPad to iOS 5. Yay!

Currently loving Hillsong's Saviour King. God is Great!

Toodles! xox

Nutella Mug Cake

By Angie McGowan - I thank you for creating this lovely and supereasy recipe (:

I found the recipe on tumblr and then attempted to make it!I just made it and my life would never be the same. Neither will my waistline...

Anyhoo, here's the recipee:

Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons self rising flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons Nutella
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
Method
  1. Combine all ingredients in a large coffee mug.
  2. Whisk well with a fork until smooth.
  3. Microwave on high for 1 1/2 – 3 minutes. (Time depends on microwave wattage. Mine took 1 /2 minutes.)
  4. Top with whipped cream and a little chocolate sauce if desired.
By far the best Cake in a Mug I have ever made. Oh and I didn’t have self rising flower so I made my own, 1 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1 1/2 tsp baking powder.

I cooked it for 2 minutes. Watch it, after 30 seconds it was about to overflow, so I stopped it and kept stopping it when it almost overflowed. After 2 minutes, TADAAAAAA... it's ready!

So gooooood! Totally the start of many more nutella mug cake sessions!

Chocolate Caliente Recipe

The Spanish are known to be locos for chocolate, since they “discovered” it in the New World 500 years ago. As in centuries past, today the Spanish drink rich hot chocolate for breakfast, so thick that you can stand a churro in it! If the only hot cocoa you’ve ever had is the kind made with powdered envelopes of mix and hot water, you won’t recognize this incredibly rich and flavorful drink. In fact, once you try the Spanish version of hot chocolate, you might be hooked! There are two versions below - one that uses baking chocolate and one that uses sweetened chocolate.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Sweet Chocolate Version
  • 2 8-ounce cups whole milk
  • 4 ounces milk chocolate
  • 1/2 tsp. cornstarch
  • Baking Chocolate Version
  • 2 8-ounce cups whole milk
  • 3 ounces (3 squares) baking chocolate
  • 1/3-1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cornstarch

Preparation:

With either type of chocolate, the process is almost the same:
Pour the milk into a medium saucepan and add the cornstarch. Whisk to dissolve the cornstarch. Once the cornstarch is dissolved, heat the milk on medium heat just until it boils, then remove from heat. Add the chocolate squares immediately and begin stirring until the chocolate is completely melted. If the milk cools off too fast, place the pan back on the stove on low heat to melt the chocolate.

If you are using baking chocolate, which is unsweetened, pour the sugar into the chocolate milk mixture and stir until thoroughly dissolved.

Place the pan back on the stove on medium low heat, stirring slowly, but constantly. (Do not cook the mixture over high heat because it may cause lumping.) Taste the chocolate for sweetness and add more sugar if necessary. The mixture should thicken quickly. As soon as you see it thicken, remove the pan from the heat so the cornstarch will not thin. Ladle immediately into cups and serve piping hot.

Note: Be sure to use a clean spoon every time you taste the chocolate. Enzymes from your mouth can cause a thickened cornstarch mixture to thin.

Note from blogger: Got this from tumblr.
