What is Oktoberfest? Oktoberfest is a 16-day drink-a-thon in Munich, originally began in 1810 as a commemoration of the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. Now an important part of Bavarian culture, the festival features good beer, hearty German food, and carnival rides for some reason.
