Letter to Sinus

Dear Sinus problem,

What is your beef with my poor nose? Why am I waking up sick this morning? You're so blocking my nose... and now my throat is just as worse.

I've noticed that your attacks come more frequently now. And I'm trying to lay off the Neozep, because if I were to take a pill every single time you come by, I'd be pretty much medicated all the time. So without medication, all I do is sneeze and sneeze and blow my nose and sneeze, and wait til you go away.

My nose threatens to fall off if the problem persists, which is why I'm writing this nice letter to you, please and thank you go away.

Cheers,
Amarantha

Oktoberfest

What is Oktoberfest? Oktoberfest is a 16-day drink-a-thon in Munich, originally began in 1810 as a commemoration of the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. Now an important part of Bavarian culture, the festival features good beer, hearty German food, and carnival rides for some reason. Here are some photos I gathered from Life.com --- one of my favorite websites for admiring beautiful photos.

Now, still wondering why I miss  Germany so much?
I wanna go and wear dirndl and Jonah wears lederhosen! That would be fuuunnn... Anyone else is coming?

Falling Slowly

It is a song written and performed by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová which also appeared in their 2007 film Once. Very lovely song. Kind of haunting, simple and it is one of my favorite songs ever. It is melancholically beautiful.

Clouds, Birds, Moon, Venus.

How great Thou art...

Explanation from the photographer, Isaac Gutiérrez Pascual,  who took this photo in the first week of September 2010 :
"Sometimes the sky above can become quite a show. In this photo, thee Moon and Venus converged, creating quite a sight by itself for sky enthusiasts around the globe. From some locations, though, the sky was even more picturesque. In the above image taken last week from Spain, a crescent Moon and the planet Venus, on the far right, were captured during sunset posing against a deep blue sky. In the foreground, dark storm clouds loom across the image bottom, while a white anvil cloud shape appears above. Black specks dot the frame, caused by a flock of birds taking flight. Very soon after this picture was taken, however, the birds passed by, the storm ended, and Venus and the Moon set. The Moon and Venus have now separated, although Venus will remain visible at sunset for the rest of this month. "

Sara Bareilles - Gravity

Yes, this is my second time posting this song. Click here to see the first post. The difference is, this one is the official video clip of the song and the earlier post is the song and lyrics. I thought the video clip is very beautiful, low-budget yet very arty. I can't help it, I'm just too much in love with this song and Sara Bareilles. I hope you enjoy the song and video as much as I do :) Have a good weekend!

More Dolphins Released...

Remember when I posted an entry about dolphins in Japan? Since then I've been a follower of Save Japan Dolphins Blog just to keep myself updated about the cause. If you already watched "The Cove" , a documentary about dolphins in Japan which also won an Oscar for the best documentary this year, than you probably know that the dolphins hunting/massacre happens every year in September. And we are now in the month of September.

Their latest entry made me happy :) here's the title: "The Latest from Taiji: More Dolphins Released" Yay! It is written that now those Taiji fishermen are applying the "no-kill-policy". No more dolphins are getting slaughtered. However, they still hunt down bottlenose dolphins to be captured and sold to aquariums. Those dolphins have been pulled from their families to be put in captivity. The non-bottlenose dolphins were released back into the sea. At least they don't kill dolphins anymore. I almost cried when I read this part:

"Six hunting boats took position outside the cove. At first the bottlenose dolphins did not realize that they were free. Then they did and started taking off slowly, then ever faster. The hunting boats started driving them out to sea in a sort of reverse drive hunt, but not as violently as they had driven them in the day before. In the end the dolphins were just literally flying towards the open ocean, trashing up a lot of white water. This could be seen for miles before they disappeared towards the horizon."

Awww :') but still, I'm against captivity of bottlenose dolphins. LET THEM BE FREE!!! Leave the dolphins alone! Please if you care about this too, please sign their petition or even better donate some of your money to end this horrible activity. Let's love the dolphins!

Let There Be Peace in Indonesia

I'm deeply concerned with the current event in my country, the beautiful Indonesia. Last Sunday a priest was hit and a God servant was stabbed minutes before the Sunday morning service in Bekasi, Indonesia.

First, let me say that I am not representing anyone. I can't claim to speak for anyone but myself, though I hope that many others feel as I do.

Second, This can't be explained rationally because this is purely an emotional response. Obviously, Christians have the same right to worship when and where they please, just as any other religion in Indonesia. The same rules of tolerance that allow a priest to preach his message also allow Muslims to preach theirs.

We may never be able to agree on some things. That is life. But let us all agree to some terms. Let's agree not to tolerate hatred -- toward Muslims, Christians, Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists or any others. Let's agree not to use inflammatory language and anarchism. Let's agree to call out and condemn those who would incite riot, whether it's an imam who orders the death of a priest or the preacher who wants to burn another man's holy book. Thank God, the Indonesians from Muslim Groups, Catholics and the Government agreed that the kind of anarchy act is unacceptable and the people behind it should be held responsible and be punished by law.

Let's agree that sometimes we will disagree but that none of this makes any sense if worshiping the creator means we must destroy each other in the process. Anyone who believes in God can't also believe that his divine plan included his creation's mutual destruction. May there be peace in Indonesia.

As a firm believer and follower of Jesus Christ, my reaction to this horrible event is praying for the people who stabbed and hit the victims. As written in Luke 23:34 "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." Jesus is love. He teaches us how to love one another including our enemies (I'm not gonna lie here, but it is hard to love my enemies and frenemies). I'm still hoping I could love just the way He wants me to love. And by praying for the people behind the stabbing, it is me trying to love.
